Exhibition at Moinho celebrates 173 years of Juiz de Fora
To celebrate Juiz de Fora's 173rd birthday, visual artists Yure Mendes and Wesley Rocher Monteiro are launching the cultural exhibition "JUIZ DE FORA, TRAÇOS E FORMAS" to exalt and celebrate the legacy of the city they chose to live in. The exhibition will open on the 31st at 7pm at the Moinho.
With very different characteristics in the way they work as artists - Wesley is a painter and draughtsman and Yure, an iron sculptor - they set out to provoke each other by mixing thoughts, forms and perceptions about the city's history, starting from the same theme with the aim of presenting two perspectives and two artistic proposals.
The exhibition highlights the diverse characteristics of Juiz de Fora's history and culture in a comprehensive way, from its foundation to the present day, going through cultural and pioneering characters, artistic vocation, architecture, curiosities, people who worked to build the city and rescuing the historical erasure of black personalities, always being a theme for two eyes.
