Marize Moreno

MARIZE MORENO is an artist and art educator with an interest in printmaking and image reproduction methods. She graduated from the Federal University of Juiz de Fora, where she also carried out her master's research on Lasar Segall's album Mangue. Recently, she produced and taught printmaking workshops at the Bernardo Mascarenhas Cultural Center, through the Murilão 2023 public notice. Between 2018 and 2020, she worked in the educational sector of the Murilo Mendes Museum of Art. She is an arts teacher in the Minas Gerais state education system.

The work for Moinho is a woodcut, i.e. an image engraved on wood. Some flowers were engraved on the pink cedar board using gouges. In this technique, the image printed on the paper is a mirror image of the one engraved on the matrix. The ink is passed through the relief and the whites are constructed through the absence of matter, wood that has been cut.
