Moinho joins the network of co.liga, the Roberto Marinho Foundation's virtual school

A virtual school with free courses aimed at the Creative Economy and a collaborative space for strengthening networks capable of connecting young people, professionals and companies. This is co.liga, an initiative of the Roberto Marinho Foundation, which has just been reinforced by Moinho to expand its reach, with the aim of training and productively including socially vulnerable young people in the job market.
Aimed primarily at the C, D and E classes, co.liga works in the areas of education, work and community, offering educational content developed by market professionals, mentoring to support students' training, job opportunities offered by companies and a community of 'co.legas' to exchange knowledge and experiences.
Initially, 37 free short-term courses will be offered in five areas of the Creative Economy (Heritage, Music, Multimedia, Design and Visual Arts), as well as cross-cutting themes that will support young people's careers, such as entrepreneurship, foreign languages, citizenship and the development of cultural projects.
Among the segmented options are courses in photography, web design, audiovisual scriptwriting, tourism for creative cities, music production, infographic production and many others. All the courses are offered online and each student chooses their path, accessing the platform whenever and wherever they can, via cell phone or computer.
Young people have free internet access in Moinho
With the partnership, young people from Juiz de Fora will be able to use the Acolher e Informar space in Moinho, which has free internet access, to attend the virtual school. The intention, however, is that the range of services will soon be expanded.
"We're mapping out a key need in the city for training in the Creative Economy in order to create a special track, whether for audiovisual or digital marketing, for example. We're also doing a curatorial process to identify the courses of greatest interest. In this way, we will build and offer a journey that makes more sense for young people and for the job market," explains Moinho's Community Manager, André Noronha.
According to him, networking to empower the community is a premise of the venture. "That's why we're going to mobilize other players in the North Zone, be they schools, NGOs or projects, so that they get to know the co.liga methodology and implement spaces in their infocentres, their computer centers, so that young people can study," adds André.
The initiative also focuses on the job market and collaborative networks
On the work front, co.liga promotes the connection between students and the market: companies, managers, producers, developers and 'allied' entrepreneurs offer job opportunities for students on the platform itself, based on a network of strategic partnerships organized by co.liga. Students can also share their portfolio in the same virtual environment.
The school community, meanwhile, is home to a space for sharing, recognition and appreciation, with an online cultural program that includes debates, lectures, open classes, concerts, readings and various activities that broaden education. co.liga has a national reach to stimulate regional economic ecosystems, reducing inequalities in access to culture.
Creative Economy has a promising market
According to Mapping the Creative Industry 2022, carried out by the Federation of Industries of Rio de Janeiro (Firjan), "in 2020, the Creative GDP totaled R$217.4 billion - a figure comparable to the total production of the construction sector (which in 2020 also accounted for around 2.9% of the total GDP) and higher than the total production of the mineral extraction sector," says the report.
"Between 2018 and 2020, the upward trend observed throughout the historical series intensified significantly. From an aggregate point of view, this implies that the economic performance of the Creative Industry has been better than that observed for the economy as a whole."
Not to mention the fact that, in 2022, Juiz de Fora City Hall has announced efforts to transform the city into an international Creative Economy hub. The announcement was made by Mayor Margarida Salomão during the Next Future Forum, which brought together experts from Brazil and around the world. At the time, she stressed that the municipality has enough reason to believe that it can be an exponent of a new economy that stems from the relationship between innovation, culture, technology, sustainability and creativity.
