In partnership with an NGO in the North Zone, Moinho is running an ongoing clothing donation drive
Moinho, in partnership with the Association for the Support of Children and the Elderly (AACI), located in the North Zone in the Nova Era neighborhood, is running an ongoing campaign to collect clothing in good condition. To this end, a donation box has been set up on the ground floor of the complex, in the Espaço Acolher e Informar area. Donations will be delivered to AACI beneficiaries, and the association will periodically collect the items.
“The important thing is to ensure these clothes are put to good use, helping not only to support the most vulnerable members of the population but also to foster interaction between Moinho and the surrounding community,” explains Brand Manager Carmen Calheiros.
Raquel Barros, social projects coordinator at AACI, explains that the NGO was founded in 2010 to carry out social assistance work in the Santa Lúcia neighborhood and surrounding areas. In 2015, the Social Interaction and Bond-Strengthening Service began its activities, serving children and adolescents daily through programs that foster family and community bonds and help develop their potential.
“Currently, the Community Service Program serves 120 children and preteens aged 4 to 14; 25 teenagers aged 14 to 18; 25 women aged 18 to 50; and 25 seniors over the age of 60,” notes Raquel.
This isn’t the first time Moinho has partnered with AACI. Moinho’s brand manager notes that other initiatives have already been carried out to channel donations to the association. “During the campaign held at the Culture Festival, we donated non-perishable food items collected from the public to the organization. AACI runs a very well-organized operation,” says Carmen Calheiros.
“The act of giving helps make society a better place for both those who receive and those who give. Clothing is very valuable to our users because, when it comes to spending money, they prioritize other items of greater necessity. When we talk about people experiencing homelessness, clothing is even more essential due to the difficulty of keeping clothes in good condition. It ensures a minimum of dignity when bathing and spending the night at a shelter or institutional facility,” concludes Raquel.
